The Hardwood Ecosystem
Experiment (HEE) field sites are located in Morgan-Monroe
and Yellowwood State Forests
near Bloomington, Indiana. The fourth sampling year for
the project will take place in 2009. This is a unique
opportunity to gain experience in sampling a wide variety
of species in one
of the most
scenic areas in Indiana. Several job positions are listed
below.
Field Technician – General
Crew Member
Start Date: May 13, 2009
End Date: August 5, 2009
A Field Technician Crew Member
position will help carry out research on effects of silvicultural
treatments on ecology of managed forests as part of the
Indiana Hardwood Ecosystem
Experiment project. Primary duties for the entire period
will include conducting aural bird
surveys, small-mammal trapping, insect surveys, and vegetation
surveys. Field work will be
conducted at Morgan-Monroe and Yellowwood State Forests
near Martinsville, IN and
Bloomington, IN (respectively). This position requires
a valid driver’s license and the ability
and willingness to work outdoors in remote locations, rough
terrain, and potentially inclement
weather conditions.
Compensation: $8.75/hour and field housing.
