Preparation of Abstracts, Posters and Papers

Abstracts of plenary lectures, contributed oral presentations and posters will be published in a conference proceedings. Authors may elect to submit their complete paper for peer review for inclusion in a special issue of Tree Physiology.

Abstract preparation and submission

An abstract submission form must be received by October 1, 2006.  This should include: title, author(s), affiliation(s), address(es), and text.  There is a one-page limit (one-inch margins), using 12-point Times New Roman font. Abstracts (poster and oral presentations) and questions can be sent to the address listed below.

Poster preparation
Poster boards are 4 feet by 4 feet. Authors are free to use any format desired, but the posters should include the abstract and a brief introduction to the general topic. Whenever possible, use graphs, charts, tables, figures, pictures or lists instead of text to highlight the results and findings. Letters should be large enough to be read from approximately 10 feet away.

Oral Presentation
Abstracts submitted for oral presentation will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee, and authors of selected abstracts will be informed by December 1, 2006.
Oral presentations will be limited to 45 minutes, including a ten-minute period for discussion. Presentations should be prepared using Microsoft PowerPoint, stored on CD-ROM or flash drive. Use of personal laptops will not be permitted. The lecture hall has facilities for overhead and slide projection, but this is discouraged.

Manuscript preparation for publication in a special edition of Tree Physiology
Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit full-length manuscript to be considered for publication in Tree Physiology. Manuscript submission must be at the time of the meeting
. Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with the Author Guide (http://heronpublishing.com/tpguide.html) of Tree Physiology and will be subjected to the standard peer review process of the journal.

Manuscript submission should include a hard copy along with a digital file (a PDF file with fonts embedded, if possible, otherwise an MS Word) on an PC-format CD-ROM. The single digital file, named after the corresponding author, should contain all components of the article including text, tables, figures, and figure captions. Authors are asked to include names and addresses of five (5) people who are qualified to review the manuscripts.

Manuscripts will be forwarded to the Tree Physiology Editorial Office for peer review. Following review, the editor (Dr. Rozanne Poulson) will correspond with each author as to whether their paper is acceptable, acceptable subject to revision, or unsuitable.
