Michael Hunt, Professor Emeritus, has developed an active applied research and outreach program in the area of Wood Use in Historic Preservation and Restoration. The basis of this program is the application of wood material science and engineering to historic preservation and restoration issues. The program has three distinct topics of concentration: weathering of painted wood construction; nondestructive assessment of in-place wood floor systems; and energy enhancement of old/historic houses.
