Cost Share Assistance

There are several programs that assist a landowner with the cost of Timber Stand Improvement. Most of these programs are cost-share programs that will pay for a percentage of the cost of killing the trees and grapevines. Many of the programs are government programs through various government organizations. The number of programs can be confusing, usually the best approach to cost share is to talk to a professional forester or wildlife biologist to find the program that is right for your project.

Federal Governmant Programs

Forest Incentive Practices (FIP):

• Cost share up to 50% of cost
• Minimum 10 acres
• 10 year life of project
• Hardwoods or softwoods
• Funds limited to forestry only
• Sign-up through Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS)

Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQUIP)

• 50% cost share
• Sign-up during announced periods at Farm Services Agency (FSA)

Indiana State Government Programs

KIP

• Cost share up to 50% of cost
• Sign-up at the District Foresters office
