Wood Conference to Examine the Virtues of "Going Green"

West Lafayette, IN The state of the green building products movement in North America is the focus of a conference scheduled for at the Downtown Sheraton Hotel in Indianapolis, IN.
“The Dollars and Sense of Going Green” represents a unique summit for hardwood lumber manufacturers and wood products manufacturers and industry suppliers. The program is being organized by the Department of Forestry at Purdue University and Wood & Wood Products in cooperation with the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Assn. and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.
The conference will provide a public forum to help attendees learn about the impact wood certification and green marketing of hardwood products is making at the national and international level.
The two-day program will consist of two general sessions of interest to all attendees, plus concurrent workshops that will cater to the specific needs of lumber producers and secondary wood products manufacturers.

Bryan Pijanowski: Parking spaces outnumber drivers 3-to-1

Purdue University researchers surveyed the total area devoted to parking in a midsize Midwestern county and found that parking spaces outnumbered resident drivers 3-to-1 and outnumbered resident families 11-to-1. The researchers found the total parking area to be larger than 1,000 football fields, or covering more than two square miles.
