Nelson-Stokes Property

Nelson-Stokes Property is in the Central Till Plain natural region in Putnam County. It contains a total of 162 acres of hardwood forest bordered on the north by Raccoon Creek.

Research and educaiton

This property is large enough to offer an excellent mix of several forest communities that represent various stages of stand development. Forest inventory, long-term forest dynamics and biodiversity research are conducted at this high quality site. Due to its forest and wildlife management, the site is a valuable teaching and research site for students and the public.

Directions

The property is located approximately 5 miles west of the intersection of Hwy 231 and Hwy 36. Property is accessed off of what was 700 West on the north side of Hwy 36.
