Dr. Quagrainie joined Purdue University as Aquaculture Marketing Specialist in 2005. He holds a joint appointment in the departments of Forestry and Natural Resources (FNR), and Agricultural Economics (AGEC). He received his B.S. from the University of Science and Technology, Ghana, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Alberta, Canada. Prior to joining the Purdue family, he held an assistant professor of aquaculture marketing position at the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff from 2001 until 2005.
Dr. Quagrainie works with the aquaculture industries in Illinois and Indiana, aquaculture producers, aquaculture associations, distributors, restaurants, retail outlets, and consumers to develop viable markets for Indiana and Illinois farm-raised aquaculture products. His research interests lie in the areas of market analysis, market definition, facilitating the development of distribution and market structures, identification of value-added opportunities for aquaculture products and feeds, and development of enterprise budgets.
Dr. Quagrainie's primary extension responsibilities focus on providing assistance to aquaculture producers in pursuing and realizing economic and market development opportunities. He directs the Purdue Cooperative Extension Aquaculture team and provides training and educational materials for farmers and Extension Educators in the aquaculture business management and marketing.
