Career Resources

Forestry and Natural Resources Department (FNR) students, alumni and employers have the advantage to connect at three levels:

1. Department Level – FNR has a career services coordinator who is available to assist you in your search or connection with students and alumni.  Shelly Opperman was hired in October 2006 to be the liaison between employers, students and alumni. The department is dedicated to providing students the attention needed to be successful in today's workforce. We offer several services to help students find jobs, internships and summer employment. These services include general career guidance and specific advice with writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews and developing job search techniques, sending the Pines & Needles Career e-newsletter and maintaining the career Web page and more. You may visit our office in Room G003 of Pfendler Hall.

2. College Level – The College of Agriculture employs a career services coordinator as well. Linda Austin coordinates the Ag Career Fair each fall and assists with career exploration.  The College maintains a Web site with position announcements and internship availability.

3. University Level – Purdue offers The Center for Career Opportunities as a resource for students, alumni and employers to connect.  The mission of CCO is to engage Purdue University students and alumni in exploring career options and developing effective job search skills. The CCO facilitates activities that connect students and alumni with employers and develops partnerships with Purdue colleges, schools and other stakeholders to deliver career services.  Students are encouraged to register with CCO and search for positions on their site.  Employers are able to search student resumes and post employment opportunities through this site.
